Everyone deserves access to their full potential.

Historically, financial institutions played a role in creating wealth gaps based on race and ethnicity. We acknowledge that history and are helping to set it right by using our expertise to build wealth in underserved communities through U.S. Bank Access CommitmentTM.

Creating a culture of belonging is everyone’s responsibility.

Our approach to DEI is all about creating a place where people know they belong, their voices matter and their ideas are valued. We expect this culture to be upheld by everyone – from our executive leaders to people in customer-facing roles and everywhere in between – and we hold people accountable for it.

Diversity makes our business better. It helps people feel valued, and it helps us understand and reach the wide array of customers we serve. We focus on DEI because it’s the right thing to do. It’s core to who we are and it allows us to achieve our full potential as an organization.

– Andy Cecere, chairman, president and CEO

What does diversity mean to us? That we can be stronger and more innovative by embracing our individual differences. And my job is to make sure that everyone’s voice is heard and valued.

– Greg Cunningham, chief diversity officer

There is such an incredible sense of identity that comes with starting a career. I’m proud that I had the opportunity to begin my career at a place that truly celebrates diversity in the workplace.

– Maliyah Arnold, risk and compliance professional

I’ve already put seven years into my career at U.S. Bank. I never expected to be here that long, but everyone has treated me so well. And I know how to do my job in the National Guard better from being at U.S. Bank.

Measuring our progress

How do we know if we’re successful? Today, we measure workforce demographics and other data related to our diversity, equity and inclusion initiatives, like investment amounts. But our work here isn’t done. We’re exploring more ways to measure our impact, and with it, the effect we’re having on people’s day-to-day lives.
