How do I customize my purchase categories?

Purchases are automatically assigned a category, based on what kind of business the charge comes from. Sometimes, the category assigned isn't right. You can update the category assigned to your purchases anytime.

How to customize your purchase categories using online banking

  1. From the main dashboard select the account you’d like to change the transaction category
  2. Locate and select the transaction the category is listed under.
  3. Once the transaction details appear, under Merchant Info select the pencil icon to the right of the category. 
  4. Choose your new category and/or subcategory from the drop-down arrow. Check the box if you would like to apply this change for the next 180 day and select Save.

How to customize your purchase categories using the U.S. Bank Mobile App

  1. From the main dashboard select the account of which you would like to change the transaction category
  2. Locate and select the transaction that the category is listed under.
  3. Once the transaction details appear, under Category tap on the category listed to make the change.
  4. Choose your new category and/or subcategory from the drop-down arrow. Check the box if you would like to apply this change for the next 180 day and select Save.
