Do you have a way for me to estimate the funds I could save on my mortgage if I paid extra?

We have a few resource tools available within digital banking you can use. These calculators can figure out how much money you could save, based on the information provided.

  • Add to your monthly payments: Find out how much you can save on interest and how many payments you wouldn’t have to make.
  • Loan value: Discover how much your monthly payment needs to be to reach a loan-to-value percentage (LTV*) by a chosen date.
  • Estimate payoff: Learn how much your monthly payment needs to be to pay off the mortgage by a certain month and year.

To access these calculators within mobile and online banking:

  1. Select your mortgage account from the dashboard.
    • Mortgage-only customers, choose View, pay & manage.
    • Customers with multiple U.S. Bank accounts, choose View and manage.
  2. Choose My Home at the top of the mortgage dashboard.
  3. Enter the required information into the calculator you’d like to use.
    • Add to your monthly payments: If you want to add to your monthly payments, use the slider or enter the extra amount you’d consider paying each month. We’ll tell you how much interest can be saved and how many payments would be reduced.
    • Loan value: If you’d like to reach a loan value by a certain date, enter the loan-to-value (LTV*) percentage you’d like to have, then choose the date you’d like to reach that goal. For example, customer A wants their LTV to be 75% by December 2024. When that percentage and date are entered into the calculator, we’ll tell you how much the monthly payment needs to be to reach the LTV by that time.
    • Estimate payoff: To find out how much needs to be paid monthly to pay the mortgage off by a certain time, choose the month and year to pay it off by. We’ll tell you how much your monthly payment needs to be to pay the mortgage off by the date you’ve chosen.

*The loan-to-value ratio is the percentage that represents the value of your home compared to the amount still owed on the mortgage.
